Strategy fest at Paradox Con

Blizzcon is not the only convention for gamers. Strategy giant Paradox has its own convention in Stockholm this weekend. The makers of Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis know how to throw an announcement party.

The other type of games

You can, of course, watch the show in its entirety below. But to give you a quick rundown: new game, expansions and a board game. Yes, you read that right. A board game. Now that is an interesting turn of events. A computer game maker getting into physical games.

Now don't think this is new. Firaxis went for this play as well with the Civilization board game. Well, there have been a lot of game publishers that wanted to conquer the tabletop. That being said, Paradox looks pretty serious about this not being a one-off.

And then there was Imperator: Rome

Yup. It's a thing. Although the trailer doesn't give that much away, we know the sort of game that we can expect from Paradox. The VP of Paradox called it a "grand strategy game" and it is slated for release in early 2019. Oh, and there will be war elephants.

The Entire Main Event

There are of course a lot more announcements from PDXCon. These include several expansions for existing games like Hearts of Iron and Crusader Kings. And Europa Universalis gets another expansion too. Watch the entire show here to catch all updates:
