This Week in Geek: All about that Death Star

This weekend the definitive date for the release of the Death Star DLC for Battlefront was announced. You can start your epic Luke trench fails on September 20th. So lock your S-foils in attack position and get ready for some epic gameplay footage.

Anyone playing EA’s flagship Star Wars game, knows that the amount of content was a bit lacking when it was first released. EA announced straight away that some extra DLC would be coming. And arrive it did but you are going to have to pay a hefty sum for it. That however doesn’t mean that it doesn’t look extremely cool:

Samsung had a bit of a hangover after launching the Note 7 and then finding out that some of them are a bit of a time bomb. A recall ensued and of course the company will suffer (at least until the release of the s8) a bit because recalls are expensive.

A notable tech launch is the Echo Dot 2 from Amazon. The new iteration boasts some new features and is available for 59 euros/50 dollars.

The esports scene is starting to pick up steam after the summer. This weekend is pretty busy actually with some nice tournaments you can watch:

There are several Hearthstone tournaments going on. For example: you can watch the PGL in Bucharest. The Hearthston Summer Championships for the Americas is going on too. You can watch that here.

Not into tournaments? Maybe the RuneFest 2016 is something to your liking? It has a livestream too.

Series and Movies

So yeah. That trailer they made of Star Trek Discovery? Yeah…. that one. It generated some major backlash from the fans. No, they didn’t like the fact that it looked like a bad version of a Star Wars animation series.

That all happened in July. Why I am writing about it now? Because CBS has just announced that they will delay ‘Discovery’ until May 2017. It’s place will be filled, according to Polygon, by The Good Wife… in space! Or not.

Now watch Terrellism watch the trailer and respond in real time:
