This Week in Geek: Blizzcon

This week saw the finish of the Blizzard season. Or the start of it, depending on how you look at it. The company held it’s yearly Blizzcon convention in Anaheim.

Obviously the Blizzcon news consisted of several announcements on the different games that the company has created. The most interesting development seems to be the new class that will be added to Diablo 3: the Necromancer.

In a further Diablo 3 announcement Blizzard told us that there will be a remastered version of the original Diablo. It will come as a free update to the third iteration of the game.

The release of another Hearthstone adventure was no surprise as most of the details were already known. The new adventure will take you to the mean streets of Gadgetzan where warring factions are trying to get control.

Blizzcon also had it’s controversial moments. The costume contest hosted by Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch was a bit of a disaster if we have to believe the tweets.

On the Esports front Blizzard was quite impressive this year. With world championships for World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and Heroes of the storm. Blizzard seems to bet big on the Esports scene as it has announced it will start an official Overwatch tournament too. The prizes were impressive this year too. The Hearthstone champion took home 1 million US dollars.

Now normally I would tell you who these new champions are. However I thought i’d give you the opportunity to find out the fun way:
