This Week in Geek: Humble store sale!

It is the week of the gtx 1060, the CS:GO championships and the G2A-scandal.

If you haven’t had enough with the Steam sale, well… You can binge on with the Humble Sale. This sale is DRM-free so you won’t need any third party client.

Those got-t0-have-them prices you saw on might have been illegally obtained. This is by no means a new phenomenon. But service G2A is now implementing a system to support developers after selling $450 000 worth of keys that were illegally obtained.

Yes, this week saw the launch of Nvidia’s answer to AMD’s RX480. Even though the card has launched, the stocks of stores are something around zero. This paper launch of the GTX1060 seems to be mostly done to make sure the RX480 loses some of it’s budget steam. We know some things though: it is supposed to be 10% faster than the RX480 and the price point is around $249. This price point is a bit of a paper thing as well. The 1070 prices are inflated because of a lack of supply.

We’ll have to wait to see the benchmarks, as Awesomesauce Network explains above. Everything is still ‘secret’. Sortof.

Shows & Movies

Yes folks, it is over. Game of Thrones season six is over and done. If you have kept up with the season you might want to watch the making of. Coming in at an hour and eighteen minutes, it extends you GOT related fun for just another episode length of goodies.

As most TV shows go on summer hiatus now, you’ll have to change over to Netflix for you next epic series fix.

On the movie side Independence Day: Resurgence not doing well. In a comparison made on it shows that the original Independence Day scored about 50% better than the new movie.

This is the weekend that CS:GO fans have been waiting for. The ESL One championships in Cologne, Germany are being held from the 8th through the 10th. There are also Road to Blizzcon qualifiers for the World of Warcraft championships. Both will set you up with an entire days worth of esports on Sunday the 10th.
